We have an exciting new opportunity available at JACK RYAN as a Bid Manager.
As a Bid Manager, you will be lead specific bid-management activities to ensure the successful delivery of a bid or a number of bids. You will bring structure, clarity and governance to the process and discipline relating to bid management activities as well as manage the preparation of the prequalification repose submissions to customers with the objective of securing an invitation to bid.
Bid Manager Key Duties
With an eye for detail, an exceptional passion for clear and concise professional writing, and knowledge of bid processes, the Bid manager is responsible for:
Participate in Bid Kick-Off meetings, providing bid management direction.
Constructing high-quality bid answers aligning with key bid win themes.
Reviewing tender documentation and client requirements for inclusion in tender responses.
Work effectively with the strategy team to generate win themes that link customer needs with defined benefits of the JACK RYAN offering.
Compiling, editing, and proofreading bid proposals which contain technical and non-technical content, and evidence.
Liaison with graphic designers (internal or external) to create easy-to-read graphics that convey the desired messages.
Ensuring that responses are presented in a professional and concise manner.
Reviewing and revising documents prepared by others and coordinating the preparation of those materials into a completed bid document.
Supporting written pieces for the selection questionnaire.
Working within the timeline of the bid, supporting other members of the team in the production of the quality responses.
Developing knowledge of business, its products and services by reading and reviewing previous bid documents and spending time with operational, technical and commercial functions.
Supporting the development of our Google Shared-Drive based knowledge library.
Contributing to the ad-hoc writing of non-bid documents, for example award submissions and case studies.
Contributing to the development of standard 'boilerplate' statements for frequently asked topics, including engagement with subject matter experts within the businessÂ
Provide leadership and guidance to less experienced staff.
What are we looking for?
2 to 3 years experience in constructing bids for the public and/or private sector.
A proven track record as a Bid Manager or Proposals manager working on Public Sector bids (Local, regional or Government function bids). (Essential)
Strong negotiation skills with the ability to deal with customers, partners, suppliers and other parts of the business (stakeholder management skills).
An understanding of the Bid Management process
General awareness of Public procurement law and procedures
Bid Manager Qualification / Skills & Experience
Ideally hold a Bachelors Degree or hold an English A-Level (or scottish equivalent) with a high pass; B, A or A+
Demonstrable experience of being able to interpret technical and contractual information into easy-to-read and impactful proposals.
APMP or other recognised industry qualifications (desired)
Experience of writing technical and non-technical quality submissions, preferably for local or central government contracts.
Proven writing ability with outstanding written English grammar, spelling and vocabulary.
Excellent communicator, able to liaise with other teams and individuals to gain information for responses, such as evidence of our proven approach.
Process led, with an ability to start an answer plan from a blank page.
Strong Microsoft or Google Suite skills (Docs, Sheets), including formatting and knowledge and experience of other systems such as Google Sheets.
Proven experience of writing and contributing to bids/quality submissions for public sector - local or central government contracts.
